The story

Married in 1980 we settled in the Hensall area. Spring Creek Farm Seed Cleaning, was built that same year. We cleaned our first seed crop of Winter Wheat that fall. We were the first to offer seed cleaning in bulk. A parcel of land was purchased from Paul’s mom. The building continued with our existing home 1983. Life on the farm saw many highs and lows throughout the years. When interest rates soared to 24%, farming got hard for many area farmers. Farming as we knew it, had come to an end. To our delight our family expanded, in 1981, 82, 84, 86, with the welcoming of four sons Ryan, Joshua, Christopher and Matthew. Praying for a daughter, God gave us an angel in 1990, our precious daughter Cassandra. She was sadly called home to soon to be with our lord in 1992. We were delighted when our family once again welcomed new members. In 2007, we welcomed daughter-in-law Hilary. Than in 2009 and 2012, we welcomed two Grandsons, Coulter and Kaeden. A new building was started in 2001 and the seed plant was moved into the new construction in 2011. The barn quilt displayed on our barn represents different aspects of our lives together. The colours are taken from the Alexander tartan. The four blue squares represent our four sons, and the pink angel at the top represents our daughter watching over us from heaven. The two yellow wheat shafts surrounding the letter “A” represent the first crop that we planted together, as well as, the first crop that we cleaned. The hand prints represent our current family. With lots of room to grow in the heart and Community of Huron County
