The story

In honour of Canada’s 150th birthday, the 100th International Plowing Match and our 15th anniversary in Canada, we painted a barn quilt. We wanted a chicken or a rooster on the quilt, but couldn’t find a nice pattern. So we used the game Tangram. With the 7 geometric shapes in this game we designed a chicken. The base is a Dutch flag, red-white-blue, this represents our background. Since 2002 we grow under the beautiful blue skies of Huron county (with sometimes a rainbow), corn, soybeans, wheat and happy Canadian chickens. The Maple Leaf on the tail of the chicken is to show how proud we are to call Canada “home”.
