The story

The 1PM 2017 brings with it not only a lot of work but a lot of excitement. It is an opportunity for the residents of Huron County to show off our talents and all that this beautiful area has to offer. A Barn Quilt trail is so exciting and our family is thrilled to tell our story. We started farming on our 100 acres in Grey Township in May of 1973. Over the next years we grew a variety crops and operated a swine operation. Our four children grew up here, helping with chores, field work (especially picking stones) and participating in sports, church, Grey Central activities and 4H-clubs. My passion for sewing and quilting inspired me to design a barn Quilt. I am in heaven when it is snowing and blowing out and I am nice and cosy inside with CKNX920 on and stitching away. Our Barn Quilt is entitled “Peace & Plenty”. I searched for a quilt block that represented what life on our farm means to our family. The block means an abundance of food, family, friends and comfort. Three of our grown children’s favorite was blue, the other one was red. My husband, Gary’s was green for the trees, crops & grass. I chose white. (I love snow.) The red & white is for Canada’s 150th and my birthday is July 1st. We had a family day to install the quilt. Our kids and grandkids helped and were all part of another page in our family’s history
