The story

The Kirkton Agricultural Society was formed in 1869 and has been hosting an annual fall fair for almost 150 years! Held on the grounds of the Kirkton-Woodham Community Centre each September, our fair showcases the local community, bringing together people of all ages for a weekend full of events and activities. Our quilt block is called “Country Fair”, chosen as it represents the mission and vision of our Society. It is displayed on a building constructed in 1952. For over 30 years it was used as the stage for the “Kirkton Garden Party”, organized by the Kirkton Community Association. Now used mainly for storage, the quilt block perfectly commemorates this building’s rich history and celebrates Kirkton’s strong rural roots.
